Board fixing is a wall tacking technique where an adhesive tack, and mechanical fixings, secure plasterboard to substrates so walls are left flat. The surface can be jointed, taped, skimmed and decorated.

It is better to use wall tacking (board fixing) if the wall is still structurally sound but uneven or if a full stud wall isn’t required. For heavier use, areas with larger voids or jobs needing insulation or thermal upgrades, dot-and-dab and drylining are better choices.

Yes. It might be necessary to pack or reinforce with a resilient bar or timber system to make a wall tacking installation more secure and we will sometimes recommend replacement plasterboard over-linings if we believe them to be a safer long-term choice during an inspection.
